About
Amy Sorensen
BPS:
What do we need to know about you?
AS: I could say you need to know that I've been scrapping
for more than ten years, and that I have four kids and a busy
husband, or that I used to be a high-school English teacher.
But really, the thing you need to know most about me is that
I am really and truly infatuated with words. Writing and reading
and journaling and using words as design elements---that's
just so me.
BPS:
What do you like about your friends?
AS: Their kindness---their willingness to listen and
give advice and tell me the truth, to laugh with me or cry
when I need it.
BPS:
Where do you hope to go?
AS: My dream vacation is six months or so in Great
Britian. I want to see the Lake District, castles, Stonehenge,
Big Ben; hike the Scottish highlands, then hop over to Ireland
to research my family history.
BPS:
What do you need everyday?
AS: Without a doubt, I need solitude every day. Time
to think, read, write, or just appreciate the silence---of
course, it's hard to find with four kids, but I usually manage!
BPS:
What's your favorite line?
AS: It's hard for me to choose just one favorite, as
I am always on the lookout for new thoughts to add to my quote
collections. Here's one favorite: "My dear friend, clear
your mind of 'can't.'" ~Samuel Johnson
BPS:
Where do you wish you could shop?
AS: I wish I could shop at a perfect little bookstore,
which has every book I want to read but isn't a large chain
store, somewhere the clerks would know my name and set aside
books they knew I'd want to read. Of course, this perfect
little bookstore doesn't exist anywhere I know of!
BPS:
What do you believe in?
AS: I believe in living with faith, in reading poems,
in the absolute goodness you find in nature; I believe in
the power that mountains, trees, uphill runs, long hikes,
autumn days, and chocolate have to make you feel alive.
BPS:
If you could take only one thing before you left the planet,
what would you take?
AS: A big notebook and a brand-new pen. (Of course,
technically, that's two things, but as they don't function
without the other, I'm calling them one!)
BPS:
Why do you like teaching at Big Picture Scrapbooking?
AS: The entire list would be too long to fit here!
One thing I love about teaching here is that the students
are so amazing---talented and passionate and willing to stretch.
I've been thoroughly impressed with the great people taking
classes from Big Picture Scrapbooking.
