[ AmySJ ] Good evening all!
[ sleepyhead ] wow amy - ur early!
[ Leora ] Hi all! Anyone else watching basketball while we chat?
[ AmySJ ] I'm trying to catch up and do other tasks as well. Like decorating!
[ Leora ] decorating? What are you decorating?
[ sleepyhead ] we r coloring eggs :-)
[ AmySJ ] I should be cooking, I should be vacuuming, I should be going to bed. . . but here I am. . .
[ nicci90630 ] Hi everyone!! I'm actually putting lesson 6 materials into my binder...not a sports fan...the hubby is watching in the other room...
[ AmySJ ] I'm decorating my candles which still have Christmas colors. . . . I take rosary or emergency candles- the ones with class without any decor on them. . . And cover them in paper.
[ Leora ] Coloring eggs sounds like fun!
[ Leora ] Oh, the candles sound beautiful!
[ AmySJ ] Needless to say, my brother's girlfriends family is coming over for the first time and I think having Christmas paper is a bit silly. I've been wanting to take some digi paper and print out some pages. If you've seen my layouts in the gallery- I'm using my new favorite paper.
[ AmySJ ] I just have to cut them down to size with my paper trimmer and then tape them onto the candles
[ Leora ] Ok, silly question, but can you burn the candles that are covered in paper?
[ AmySJ ] Yes- I make sure the paper doesn't go over the edge. I've had these for years and years- like at least 10. I need some more but our Wal-mart no longer carries them.
[ Becky C ] hi everyone
[ AmySJ ] I'll share some pics this week.
[ Leora ] Thanks Amy!
[ sleepyhead ] sounds cool Amy - wow, I went to get a beverage and missed so much - how is everyone moving along? I feel like I'm always one lesson behind - guess it just takes a while to percolate!
[ cropnmom ] Hello all! Almost missed it again, coloring eggs...thank goodness for my cell alarm!!
[ Becky C ] I am usually behind too. but that is ok.
[ sleepyhead ] hi cropnmom - doing the same thing here and ditto on the cell alarm!
[ AmySJ ] I feel behind and ahead this week. I've been at the deer lease with Turkey Season. Glad DH ended that today.
[ Stephavela ] I just happened to be checking in and am happy I am going to make atleast one chat..yeah!
[ sleepyhead ] yeah steph - you'll love it!
[ AmySJ ] Cell Phone is what reminded me!
[ PeggyL ] good evening everyone! Everyone ready for Easter?
[ sleepyhead ] couldn't live without mine although I wish i had an iphone
[ Stephavela ] "I do have Easter Baskets to fill, kids just went to bed.<br />
I love Easter pictures"
[ AmySJ ] My Iphone has been so much fun!
[ AmySJ ] No Not ready for Easter- lots to get done yet
[ sleepyhead ] i've read your posts Amy - and yes, I'm jealous :-)
[ PeggyL ] mmm I want an iphone too, just don't want to pay the montly bill lol
[ Stephavela ] Do we have a particular topic?
[ sleepyhead ] steph - stacy will come on soon and we'll post questions about this week's lesson
[ Stephavela ] Great....shows what I know:)
[ AmySJ ] I had a smart phone before and my monthly bill didn't change- Internet is often better on my phone than at home.
[ cropnmom ] Easter will be light this year...mommy accidentally okayed a business trip for daddy over the weekend.
[ Stephavela ] I had many friends with iphones and thought that I really didnt need all that, but now I am so happy with it. Glad I have it!
[ sleepyhead ] ok now, jealous times 2 girls - but i suppose I'll live - i do have an ipod touch - so as long as I'm in a wifi zone I'm fine
[ Leora ] I'm holding out for the iphone to come to Sprint...then I think I am a gonner....
[ sleepyhead ] leora me too - once verizon gets an iphone, I am sooooo there!
[ cropnmom ] uh oh, on the kitchen computer and it is slowwwww. hope to keep up tonight.
[ sleepyhead ] so psyched about the new Stories bucket - I've been eye-ing those acrylic paint cans and finally had an excuse to buy one!
[ nonnysbooks ] Fixins for Easter dinner are all set, just need to set the table tomorrow morning...and straighten up a bit....spent today taking a woodworking class with DH
[ Stephavela ] How many out there are alumni? If any, what year did you start?
[ midwestgirl ] My son saw an article in Time magazine about Verizon getting an iPhone version, may be out by this fall.
[ andypandyw ] 2008 alumni
[ sleepyhead ] pmg ,midwestgirl - you just made my day!
[ Leora ] I am a 2009 alum.
[ sleepyhead ] oops, omg
[ lisataz ] This is my second year
[ Stephavela ] My first year was 2009, got most things set up. I am enjoying this year more, less pressure. Plus the digital help has been great.
[ AmySJ ] We're doing a strange easter meal- Chicken Pot Pie. Should be easy even though I'm making it from scratch. All the veggies will be rolled in one.
[ sleepyhead ] sounds cool Amy - can I come - we love chicken pot pie - LOL!
[ midwestgirl ] thanks, sleepyhead, I was wondering what pmg meant. :)
[ sleepyhead ] it's called I'm hiding in my office with the lights off so my kids can't bug me so I couldn't see the keyboard - ha ha!
[ Stephavela ] "Andypandy-<br />
Would you say you have come far with LOM? Are you as orgainzed as you would like?"
[ nonnysbooks ] teriyake flank steak marinating, jello salad made, deviled eggs made (so great the kids are grown), asparagus and cherry tomatoes will get grilled...so I'm all set
[ Leora ] sleepyhead, I am smiling picturing you. You could take a flashlight under the covers...
[ sleepyhead ] LOL leora!
[ LyciaK ] nonnysbooks - your menus sounds delicious!
[ LyciaK ] I'm a 2009 alumni.
[ Gloriak ] alumni - does it really get eaiser the second time around? Did you find the system useful to you in between years? As in were you able to find photos easier and did you get more pages scrapped? Did anyone just muck along until their second year when they got more instruction?
[ andypandyw ] For the couple of years, I pretty much followed Stacy's guidelines. This year I have been tweeking it a bit to fit better with my photos. My kids are 19, 23 and 26 and I have many years of photos.
[ nonnysbooks ] nice simple menu, and the weather is cooperating, hubby just has to take the cover off the grill
[ PeggyL ] 2007 - I've grown my category drawers, I've done pics from 1997 or so until presesnt day. I still have older pics not in storage albums or category drawers they are still all in a box
[ LyciaK ] Love, love, love my iPhone. Took me a long time to finally decide to take the plunge, and I still hate how much it costs, but I use it ALL the time.
[ cropnmom ] nonnysbooks...yum. we're kind of non traditional, too. corned beef and au gratin potatoes was the vote for tomorrow.
[ AprilFL ] Hi everyone!! how was &quot;spring break&quot;??
[ sleepyhead ] hi april!
[ Leora ] OMG yes. It has been wonderful being able to find my photos. I don't have all the memorabilia stuff in place, but the photos yes. That is huge!
[ LyciaK ] About 2 months after I got my iPhone, my daughter and oldest son each got themselves an iPhone as well.
[ lisataz ] Gloria- it helped me sooo much! Love the storage binders &amp; how easy it is to find photis!
[ Stephavela ] I set up the system pretty well last year but honestly until recently was not scrapbooking that much. I have started scrapbooking a lot more and the system really works!
[ midwestgirl ] Lonely, April. I'm glad to have you and Stacy and everyone else back!
[ nonnysbooks ] spring break was too short, much too much work at the office, so I was exhausted when I got home. At least the break gave me a chance to breathe.
[ Leora ] Spring Break has been good. A mix of visiting family and visiting colleges..EGADS!
[ AprilFL ] I'm glad to be back too!
[ sleepyhead ] break was good - although I took the previous week off because I felt overwhelmed and then Stacy told us to take last week off which was very funny!
[ AprilFL ] It's been nice to step away from the computer though - didn't even scrapbook . . . gasp
[ sleepyhead ] I'm sure you made memories worth scrapbooking though= so that's even better April
[ PeggyL ] April - sometimes you need to step away when you come back it's all good again
[ LyciaK ] All during the 2009 class, I kept debating on how I was going to set up my digital storage system...whether or not I was going to use iPhoto...etc. This year, I'm finally committing to using iPhoto and Kayla's tutorials &amp; encouragement have been wonderful.
[ sleepyhead ] ditto Peggy
[ AmySJ ] I didn't do much scrapbooking this past week.
[ Gloriak ] I set up binders when the book came out and looked through them alot :) Since the class started though I am putting alot of pressure on myself and am working on letting go a little. I still haven't put anything into category drawers.
[ cropnmom ] I confess I did &quot;have to&quot; do one more season of highlights to shutterfly during the break.
[ PeggyL ] oh as an alum I love the digital details this time round
[ Leora ] I was working on a big scrapbook project before break. Now I need to clean my space and put everything away, before I can scrap again..
[ AprilFL ] that's exactly right :) Lots of memories . . . kids doing field trips and warm weather hit Florida. We're hitting the beach Tuesday!!
[ sleepyhead ] I finally picked my album colors and got them delivered - they are delicious!!!!
[ midwestgirl ] What albums did you get, sleepyhead?
[ Leora ] This is the time of year where I feel conflict between scapping and gardening.
[ AprilFL ] yay sleepyhead
[ PeggyL ] yay sleepy! love new stuff
[ cropnmom ] I love hearing from the alumni...takes the pressure off to get it all done (or started) now.
[ PeggyL ] I hear ya leora - I was digging in dirt today - 70's in NY - totally loving it
[ Becky C ] i am using the KMA albums and love them
[ nonnysbooks ] I just need to keep working on boundaries for DH...he seems to think he needs to come up with things to fill my time while he is doing Scouting stuff...
[ AmySJ ] 8 of 22 candles done for any of you counting. . . The printer is slowing me down.
[ sleepyhead ] I got the post-bound 12x12 in classic leather - love 'em! Buttercup (US), Pink (People), Cobalt (Places), Burgundy (Things)
[ Leora ] "Peggy,<br />
I am such a fairweather gardener. Today, I finally pulled up the brown stuff from last year."
[ sleepyhead ] I was able to use 50% off coupons for every single one - even though they had to ship separately - so glad hubby wasn't home when the mailman showed up with 16 boxes!!!!!
[ midwestgirl ] Those colors sound gorgeous!
[ PeggyL ] Leora- I'm pulling but can't plant really until memorial day - chance of frost is too great.
[ andypandyw ] When I took LOM in 2008, I really wasn't doing digital scrapping, in 2009 I had started playing with digital. This year, I am finding that doing certain events digitally or in photo books helps get projects done faster and they look great. So with that in mind, I am tweeking my LOM systems to fit.

[ AmySJ ] Fairweather Gardener- that's me. . . I've got tall tall weeds that I need to get a grip on. . .but that means I have to walk away from the computer and scrapbooking!
[ PeggyL ] 16 boxes :oO
[ sleepyhead ] thanks - wasn't til last minute that I was able to find the buttercup ones which I REALLY wanted!
[ nonnysbooks ] I'm so glad we planted perennials last year, the hyacinths are lovely and the clematis have gotten a good start this year
[ PeggyL ] I'm sorry when I say digital just the pics are the computer. I am totally a paper girl
[ sleepyhead ] I have two brown thumbs (the opposite of green thumbs :-) I leave the planting to my other family members - I've already killed 2 cactuses - I figured that's enough of a sign - ha ha
[ LyciaK ] Does anyone know if Stacy is back from vacation?
[ cropnmom ] Hey, where is our fearless leader?
[ Leora ] I bought my son a composter for his birthday. A new garden toy!
[ sleepyhead ] ditto lyciak and cropnmom - where's SJ?
[ AprilFL ] no idea where stacy is . . . I just tried to text her; we'll see if I get a response.
[ Leora ] Thanks April. I was afraid to ask...
[ PeggyL ] How many newbies are on the chat tonight?
[ LyciaK ] Sleepyhead - did you say what brand of albums you bought?
[ sleepyhead ] hey digi girls - do you create smart albums for your digi CDs or do you consciously move certain pics into the CDs?
[ sleepyhead ] I got WRMK - and the faux leather is divine!
[ AmySJ ] Any great ideas how to incorporate scrapbooking into your Easter day?
[ nonnysbooks ] well, I took one step towards getting more everyday pictures...I took the camera with me today for the woodworking class, but was so involved in woodworking I forgot to get the camera out....seems that's a habit I'm gonna have to break.
[ Gloriak ] If by newbie you mean first LOM year that'd be me!
[ Meggie ] PeggyL I', a newbie and really enjoying the class.
[ AmySJ ] I know Cathy Z had a mini album idea for Thanksgiving that was super cool. . .
[ nicci90630 ] i am totally new...all digital and taking a photography class at the same time...feeling very behind trying to keep up with both classes...
[ LyciaK ] Are the WMRK 12x12 albums really huge?
[ Leora ] I have a digital frame question. IF you have multiple folders on your key, is there a way to select one folder to play?
[ sleepyhead ] AmySJ...I'm giving my DS a new video game and my DD a new movie - so that should buy me 2 hrs of uninterrupted scrap time - ha ha!
[ scrapbookgirl71 ] I did my highlights for the first quarter of 2010 yesterday! I'm totally behind on everything else, but at least that's done!
[ PeggyL ] nonnysbooks - can you take a pic of a finished project and then journal. I forget all the time too.
[ AprilFL ] while we wait for Stacy, is there any questions I could help with?
[ Leora ] Hey that right. I should do my highlights folder...
[ sleepyhead ] lyciak - i can measure them for you if you want - they are pretty typical for 12x12 postbound - stick out a bit on typical shelves
[ MelissaTX ] Also a newbie here. I had read PhotoFreedom a few months back so had the overall picture in mind before we started.
[ nonnysbooks ] my plan for tomorrow afternoon is to take the &quot;supply albums&quot; downstairs and see if I can get the family looking at the pictures...after all I'm not just scrapbooking my memories, but theirs as well.
[ midwestgirl ] I can never wait an entire quarter to print pictures. I have to print monthly, or even sooner if I am excited to see the pictures.
[ lisataz ] Lycia- do you mean the postbound or 3 ring? I have the 3 ring.
[ Becky C ] April, I'm confused about the title page and dedication pages
[ cropnmom ] I have WRMK binders. they are a little bigger than I'm used to, but not especially cumbersome. I was always one to over do the number of pages in my CM books anyway.
[ andypandyw ] I'm just starting to figure out the digi CD system and smart albums work well for certain things, but you kind of have to keyword first, I think.
[ LyciaK ] I had heard that the WRMK 8.5x11 albums were almost 12x12, but I think they were talking about the 3-ring ones. You said you got post-bound, so that may be the difference.
[ PeggyL ] I've been taking a lot of pictures lately. The weather has been so great the kids are outside doing lots of stuff, bike riding, salamander finding...
[ AprilFL ] Becky, what specifically are you confused about?
[ nonnysbooks ] I'm a first timer...and just getting my prints organized and sorted through a bit has been a big help, I just have so many ideas for LOs now, that the ideas are overwhelming me, almost can't notecard them fast enough
[ midwestgirl ] I have WRMK linen albums, and the 3-rings are a little bigger than the post bound.
[ PeggyL ] great idea nonnysbooks
[ Becky C ] I guess what is the dedication page about?
[ MelissaTX ] nonnysbooks - same problem here, so many ideas and not enough time. I have actually made five pages in the last four days!
[ Canay ] Iwas wondering what you put on the other side of the dedication page. Do you just put any layout or are you choosing a special layout for that side?
[ LyciaK ] lisataz - yes, I was talking about the 3-ring. And now I remember that it was YOU who had ordered them recently and given the measurements, right? :)
[ AprilFL ] The dedication is just a note about how or why you're doing these library albums this way - and what that particular library album is about.
[ andypandyw ] April, Do you find that with more and more digital options, you are changing they way you are setting up your LOM?
[ AprilFL ] I personally don't have dedication pages at this point
[ sleepyhead ] WRMK 12x12 postbound dimensions - 14.5 wide by 13 high and 1.75 spine - they do command your attention
[ nonnysbooks ] Time is turning into my biggest obstacle...thought scrapbooking would be on my agenda this coming week, and mid-week I got an invite to my niece's baby shower...next Saturday
[ MelissaTX ] I put my title page, then the dedication page in the same page protector &quot;behind&quot; it.
[ Canay ] lol April. Then you don't have anything behind your dedication page:)
[ AprilFL ] Canay, I actually have mine set up as title, then nothing on the back of that since I don't have a dedication page, then I start right with section dividers
[ lisataz ] My &quot;dedication page&quot; is just a page to highlight one great picture for that category and I included a quote. Nothing deep, lol.
[ Canay ] Silly mee...I meant the section pages.
[ sleepyhead ] I'm so visual - I can't hide anything - I don't even stack photos in my SBs for prints
[ lisataz ] Lycia- no, I bought mine last year. Do you need measurements?
[ MelissaTX ] I'm only stacking photos that are very similar - I like to see them all to when I'm thumbing through for inspiration.
[ sleepyhead ] would love the measurements for the WRMK 12x12 3 rings - thinking of getting those for SBs...
[ Canay ] I have the title page, the dedication page. then my next protector has a section page. I was considering what to put behind the section page.
[ AprilFL ] Andypandyw - not at this point. I don't have a digital frame, though we just bought another computer. I do set up some basic digital category drawers since I do digital scrapbooking sometimes, but they're not nearly as in-depth as the ones in my studio.
[ sleepyhead ] canay - why not open your section with a great 2 page spread - maybe some highlights of what is to come?
[ lisataz ] good question, canay. i don't have section pages yet
[ LyciaK ] Ok, Lisa, sorry...guess I'm confused (that doesn't take much - lol!) Are WRMK sold in scrapbook stores as well? I don't know of anyone in my area that carries them.
[ AprilFL ] oh, Canay! LOL Nope, don't do anything &quot;special&quot; behind the section pages - just whatever is next
[ lisataz ] I'm thinking about doing 6x12 pages for my section dividers, tho.
[ LyciaK ] sleepyhead - thank you for the postbound measurements.
[ midwestgirl ] I never did section pages until I had filled up my albums some. Then the sections became apparent.
[ AprilFL ] Often if it's a 1 page spread, I don't have anything behind it; but a 2 pager will go ahead and be on the back.
[ sleepyhead ] LyciaK = haven't found WRMK at any LSS - had to order them online at Joanns - also have them at scrapbook.com and a few others
[ AmySJ ] Section pages- I may just put pictures behind them without a dedication. (I've got the 4X6 picture page protectors.)
[ midwestgirl ] Archiver's sells WRMK leather albums.
[ lisataz ] Yes, WRMK is carried at Aechivers, I think. But I ordered mine from Ritz Camera online and Joann.com has some great sales sometimes.
[ MelissaTX ] I've decided not to do section pages just yet since I only have a few layouts in each album.
[ andypandyw ] I'm also thinking about doing 6x12 or even 8.5 by 11 pages for section pages because then I can run them thru my printer with some type of border design (I do use 12 x 12 albums.
[ sleepyhead ] lisataz - was just able to use 50% coupons and a few email addresses and got all 16 of mine at half off :-)
[ cropnmom ] WRMK albums. entire scrap seciton at Ritz Camera seems to be on perpetual 20% sale. flat fee for shipping of 6.95, too.
[ LyciaK ] sleepyhead - thanks for the info about Joann's &amp; scrapbook.com
[ Canay ] Great ideas. So, I stapled ribbons to my tabs on my section pages. Then I realized that I didn't have anything on the other side so if I want to put a layout in I need to remove the staple. (I am a little craft challenged!). That is what got me started thinking about what would go there.
[ AprilFL ] well, ladies, I have yet to hear back from Stacy. My guess is she's enjoying family time.
[ LyciaK ] The nearest Archiver's is a 3.5 hr drive for me :(
[ lisataz ] I got great service from Ritz Camera, too. Some of my page protectors were bent and they just credited my cc and didn't make me send them back.
[ sleepyhead ] cropnmom - thanks for the tip - will keep an eye out - anyone have a preference for page protectors - the WRMK seem high quality - I used to use Pioneer but over the years they've gotten icky!
[ lisataz ] I love WRMK page protectors. Very high quality.
[ midwestgirl ] I love their divided page protectors!
[ AprilFL ] I love CTMH page protectors myself
[ sleepyhead ] lisataz =- where do you find them - scrapbook.com was out I think...?
[ Canay ] I like the page protectors that go with the albums. AC protectors for my AC albums and WRMK protectors in my WRMK album. I think they line up better that way.
[ cropnmom ] I do like the WRMK, but only buy them on sale...unfortunately, ACMoore now only carries them online, not in store, or I'd use my coupons.
[ sleepyhead ] april what are CTMH pages?
[ PeggyL ] That's ok about Stacy it is the night before easter, maybe she'll coloring eggs.
[ AprilFL ] Close To My heart
[ midwestgirl ] PeggyL, I agree!
[ sleepyhead ] canay - ditto - I definitely like them to line up - just bought some AC ones b/c I could'nt get WRMK - not sure if I'll keep them though
[ AprilFL ] they're sturdy and fit in the AC albums - not sure about WRMK albums though
[ Canay ] I wouldn't be here if my cell phone didn't alert me. I ran and turned the oven off and said...dinner will be later!
[ sleepyhead ] wish all the companies would just make standard holes to fit all the albums - wouldn't that make life so much easier?!
[ LyciaK ] @sleepyhead - standard holes would definitely make our lives easier!
[ cropnmom ] sleepyhead, from your mouth to the ears of about a dozen product developers! I accidentally bought &quot;post&quot; pages for my ring binders.
[ sleepyhead ] I have about 400 digi and paper layouts that I just transferred to LOM categories - anyone crazy like me?
[ PeggyL ] I went to a stampin up weekend a few weeks back -where we make projects over 2 days with stampin up stuff. Anyway I was able to go into my school of life box and pull stuff for my kids pages. My daughter is 10 and in 4th grade. I hadn't done a layout since preschool. I did find I didn't have everything I needed but I got a good jump on each year.
[ AprilFL ] that's excellent Peggy! It's a start.
[ sleepyhead ] peggyl - good for you!
[ AprilFL ] 400??? I don't think I have that many layouts . . .
[ PeggyL ] yup, I know what pics I still need so I'll be able to look for them and finish them up after I journal.
[ Canay ] My kids are grown so I sort of bypass the SOL info. But I was just thinking that this would be a great thing to start when I have grandkids. A grandma's school of life box.
[ PeggyL ] yeah I don't have 400 either. lol
[ cropnmom ] I'm off to a crop next weekend. I'm taking my cardstock, my tools and one season binder. Goal is to top the 7 LO I managed last time.
[ sleepyhead ] been scrapping for 16 years ladies - digi for 7
[ Canay ] I've never counted but I doubt I would have that many.
[ PeggyL ] 16 wow!
[ nonnysbooks ] "in my snippets of time this past week, I cleaned and sorted some things in the scrapbook room, got my stamps filed away in the stamp binder, and an imprint on my index sheets, ribbons out of their bags and into the ribbon drawer, loose Cricut cartridges into a storage box<br />
and all the loose stuff that had gotten &quot;stashed&quot; when the in-laws were here got returned to its rightful homes, now my scrappy desk is ready for scrapping."
[ AprilFL ] cropnmom - that's a great plan! I hope you accomplish a lot.
[ sleepyhead ] yep, started 3 years before kids, and DS is almost 13 - I'll have to confess that at least 30 pages of those are from our multiple Disney trips - ha ha
[ midwestgirl ] I've often wondered if someday I will look back over all my layouts and do some purging. It hasn't happened yet and I've been scrapbooking for 12 years.
[ sleepyhead ] go cropnmom!
[ AprilFL ] nonny - you did TONS better than I did . . . my room's a wreck!
[ sleepyhead ] midwestgirl - there are a few that I debated whether or not to transfer over to my LOM binders, and only one didn't make it
[ nonnysbooks ] I keep watching for when Aby is gonna offer her scrapbook organizing class, I've gotten a lot better organized just taking the Org 101 and Get Organized for the Holidays classes
[ nonnysbooks ] but I'm a compulsive organizer, and if there's clutter about in the scrap room I get overwhelmed, so very few clear storage organizers in my scraproom, everything in drawers or being doors
[ cropnmom ] The problem with my chrono CM pages is they are &quot;built&quot; on the pages and don't neessarily relate back to back with each other. many are still in the original albums because of this.
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] I've been organizing my stuff as well. I still have sheets from 10 years ago at least. I haven't used them yet and they look so out of style I don't even want to use them! I'm trying to &quot;hurry up&quot; and scrapbook more before what I love now becomes &quot;not my taste&quot; anymore. I swear though, designs were not as beautiful as they are now or am I just imagining things. I cannot resist what they put out these days. And every year it gets cuter and cuter to me!
[ midwestgirl ] I started out with CM, so just kept all those albums as is and moved on to LOM.
[ sleepyhead ] cropnmom = me too - I was CM pre-digi so I couldn't move 3 very fat album's worth of LOs because it would've just been a nightmare
[ lisataz ] cropnmom I don't plan to do anything with my CM pages that are built right to the page.
[ lisataz ] I had 3 pages in an album that I didn't finish. It only had 3 pages in it. I cut the &quot;staples&quot; off the bindings and put them in page protectors and put them in my LOM binder.
[ sleepyhead ] jessy - I agree - the stuff they come out with now is SOOOO much better than the cheesy stuff that was out years ago - I've created a basket for my DD of all of that stuff because it's &quot;new&quot; to hear - she doesn't care and I don't feel guilty throwing it away!
[ midwestgirl ] I just figure the CM albums are what they are, and they define a certain period in my scrapbook life.
[ sleepyhead ] "oooh lisataz - good idea!<br />
ditto midewestgirl - good observation!"
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] That is an awesome idea sleepyhead. I'm going to do that too. It will clear out room for the new papers as well.
[ scrapbookgirl71 ] I'm chromo through 2008 and I am going to leave those albums alone because done is good! Also, I feel like my layouts are documenting those times, the styles, papers, techniques and, now, the way they are organized represent a specific moment in time as well.
[ midwestgirl ] I keep a donate box right in my scrap room. Feels good to put stuff there, headed for a new home, and I'm not just throwing it out.
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] I never did get into CM. I used to live 5 minutes from my LSS back then.
[ sleepyhead ] Jessy - it definitely helps when she scraps with my unwanted stuff, so I don't care if she uses pictures or stickers or whatever she wants
[ lisataz ] Midwestgirl- where do you donate sb supplies?
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] Now almost all of the LSS are gone from Northern Virginia.
[ sleepyhead ] Jessy - my neighbor who got me started was a CM consultant so I was 'loyal' for a while - but then went to digi and started buying postbound from LSS --- hey come visit me, we can go to the LSS in Fred'burg :-)!
[ midwestgirl ] I have friends whose children love to go through my box, also the local children's hospital will take supplies.
[ PeggyL ] my local library has a scrapbook group and I was going to check with my school to and see if the teachers wanted anything.
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] I was thinking of donating some older supplies to my DS school. They don't really have an &quot;art&quot; class like I did growing up.
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] I LOVE SCRAPDOODLES! I'm there you just say when.
[ nonnysbooks ] I'm still on the new end of the sb spectrum, haven't reached the point of donating stuff, but would think day care, nursery schools, school art departments, scout troops, day camp, and senior centers would all be potential donation places
[ sleepyhead ] Yes scrapdoodles rocks - of course since I'm digi - I only buy books and certain things for my DS but I still love going- are you alum or new?
[ cropnmom ] I've noticed a lot of gals at the crops I go to have a box they put out of unwanted items, or sometimes even set up a swap table. Unfortunately, I never think of this until AFTER the crop.
[ sleepyhead ] I meant DD, not DS - my 'beverage' is getting to my head - hee hee (hey, it is Saturday, right?!)
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] So brand new to LOM that I'm still shaking in my boots!
[ midwestgirl ] Just a thought...I wonder if Stacy thinks the chat starts at 7:30, like others have?
[ sleepyhead ] me too Jessy - maybe we can shake together - my email is sleepyhead922@gmail.com - send me a msg, maybe we can get together
[ cropnmom ] I'm game to stick around to see if that is the case, midwestgirl
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] That would be funny! Even if Stacy totally forgot, I forgive her. This is the 4th time I've &quot;happened upon&quot; a chat.
[ sleepyhead ] me 2, definitely missing the infinite wisdom of our fearless leader (no offense April :-)
[ bcre8uv ] Trying to call her right now...
[ Leora ] WHAT IS SCRAPDOODLES?
[ sleepyhead ] scrapdoodles is a local scrapbook store in Fredericksburg, VA
[ midwestgirl ] I'm not sure I can last another hour. It's getting late here in the Eastern Time Zone! :)
[ sleepyhead ] midwestgirl -that's why they make coffee :-)
[ andypandyw ] I was just playing with my son's new iPad - very cool!
[ Leora ] Oh, I see. I just drove through there. Next time, I will have to stop.
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] I'll write you soon sleepyhead. BTW, you took what should be my name, love it!
[ sleepyhead ] call me first Leora - would love to meet fellow LOM'ers :-)
[ AprilFL ] none taken sleepyhead. :) I understand . . . and I'm sitting here watching a movie with DH too . . .
[ midwestgirl ] lol, sleepyhead. Not a coffee drinker, but I could go for a good strong cup of tea.
[ bcre8uv ] She's not answering her cell...
[ sleepyhead ] anything you would like us to have an a-ha moment about April?
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] Scrapdoodles is very nice. I've been able to meet Jenni Bowlin and Donna Downey there. Claudine Helmuth will be there next week-end I think.
[ Leora ] Will do sleepyhead. The trick will be to find something fun for my family to do at the same time...
[ sleepyhead ] midwestgirl - I'm thinking it's more like martini time than tea time - :-)
[ LyciaK ] andypandyw - what did you do with the iPad? I find it's concept fascinating.
[ midwestgirl ] Well, I just hope everything is okay with Stacy.
[ bcre8uv ] I'm guessing Stacy's probably all wrapped up in getting ready for Easter and forgot...I forgot about it until April messaged me.
[ sleepyhead ] Leora - there is a family fun land right across the street!!!
[ bcre8uv ] I am typing w/ one hand and dyeing eggs with the other. ;)
[ AprilFL ] aww, ah-ha moments are so individual - not everyone has or needs the same ones. Sometimes I wish we could just pour in the information that we've all learned as trainers and coaches - and well, we can't. You just have to live with it and experience it on your own.
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] sleepyhead and Leora, I'll be there too!!!!!!
[ sleepyhead ] bcre8uv - we were all commenting at the begninning that if it weren't for all of our cell phones, we would have forgotten toot!
[ andypandyw ] You can sync photos from iPhoto or Aperture on the iPad.
[ midwestgirl ] Anything alcoholic would definitely put my to sleep!
[ AprilFL ] I'm with you Tami . . . until I saw lisataz's tweet about chat, I didn't even realize we had one.
[ sleepyhead ] leora &amp; jessy - send me a message and we'll set something up to get together - that would be fab!
[ andypandyw ] Tami - egg dying while typing - a new skill!!!
[ lisataz ] Oh, cool, glad I could remind you!
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] OK, will do.
[ AprilFL ] Tami's talented like that! LOL
[ bcre8uv ] So what do you all think of the extras? Planning to incorporate any of them? Already have?
[ lisataz ] I put them all in my iCal at the beginning of class and I make them if I can.
[ lisataz ] I have a SOL folder box, otherwise, I haven't done any extras. I have my own system for memorabilia, too.
[ sleepyhead ] extras--- love 'em - was looking for an excuse to buy an acrylic paint can!
[ bcre8uv ] I loved the idea I read on the message board about the email folder...I need to do that.
[ midwestgirl ] Being an empty nester, the School of Life is behind me. I do use material files for a few ongoing projects.
[ lisataz ] Oh, I guess I kind of have materials files, too. So I guess I do have many of the &quot;extras,&quot; lol
[ Leora ] I AM BEHIND ON THE MESSAGE BOARDS. CAN YOU SAY MORE ABOUT THE EMAIL FOLDER IDEA?
[ bcre8uv ] I especially love the story cards.
[ cropnmom ] I don't have any story cards yet, but lots of journaling &quot;snippets&quot; in various notebooks I plan to transfer.
[ andypandyw ] I'm almost an empty nester - but now I have some time to go back and do baby albums and SOL albums.
[ nonnysbooks ] As much as the digi intrigues me, since this is my first time through LOM, I decided I needed to focus on my physical photo organization first, to get a handle on what I'm doing, since the digi meant not only getting the LOM concepts but figuring out the digi-software as well
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] I am going to find a way to write down what family says. Can I record them verbally as notes to myself on an iphone. Or can you somehow keep a verbal diary on the iphone and have it to download to your computer. Wouldn't that be awesome???!!! I don't have an iphone yet. I'm holding out for Verizon and it's killing me!
[ lisataz ] I really need to do something like story cards. I'm just really bad about writing that kind of stuff down.
[ Canay ] I am thinking of combining my family words and the story card in the same recipe box I have.
[ andypandyw ] I have to figure out a way to set up story cards on my computer and track them there.
[ bcre8uv ] Leora, it's on both the Ask Stacy board and the general lesson board. Someone (wish I could remember who to give credit) started a folder for emails to be saved &amp; used as sb page ideas, or as part of journaling.
[ sleepyhead ] Already set up the SOL folders and it has helped tremendously in keeping the large piles at bay - instead of asking my children, should I keep this - I ask should we put this in the folder to save and they are selectively eliminating stuff for me - which equals no guilt for MOM - love it!!!!
[ cropnmom ] silly question...is there a punch that does tabs (for story cards), and who makes it?
[ Meggie ] Love the extra's too and hope to incorporate most of them. Our son is older but I still have some school stuff so hopefully that box will be taken care of.
[ bcre8uv ] you're on the right track, nonny
[ Leora ] Cool. That might be Amy! Thanks.
[ lisataz ] Crop n mom- McGill's tab punch is great!
[ midwestgirl ] Yes, there is a punch that does tabs. Not sure who makes it, but I ordered mine on scrapbook.com
[ midwestgirl ] Yes - McGill
[ bcre8uv ] Here's a link
[ sleepyhead ] Jessy you could get a digital voice recorder and download the files to your computer like you do your pics
[ andypandyw ] Maybe something like the Evernote program or app can help track stories...
[ cropnmom ] Thanks lisataz and midewestgirl...I'll be checking into that punch.
[ sleepyhead ] ditto cropnmom
[ LyciaK ] My family interrupted me and I missed what any of you said about the iPad, et al. Care to repeat?
[ bcre8uv ] I use the McGill punch to tab out sections in my storage binders, too. I have at least one year per, so I put the seasons on the tabs.
[ Leora ] Thanks again for the link! The email folder idea is a great one!
[ bcre8uv ] And I've used the tabs on scrapbook pages. It's very versatile - I've definitely gotten my money's worth. :)
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] I like that sleepyhead. Maybe there would be an app though. There's gotta be!
[ andypandyw ] iPad - I;m just starting to look at it. It has Safari, iTunes and can sync photos from iPhoto or Aperture. IBooks also.
[ midwestgirl ] I save emails, but they are not well organized right now. Sigh, another project..... :)
[ lisataz ] I used the tab punch to make dividers for my category drawers.
[ bcre8uv ] Does anyone have any questions about the lesson this week? Or past lessons?
[ AprilFL ] I triple ditto the usefullness of the mcgill tab punch
[ cropnmom ] I looked at Joann and ACMoore's punch dept. Sadly both are pretty anemic. Looks like online is the way to go.
[ sleepyhead ] nonnysbook - I'm 100% digi - and can't imagine trying to learning both digi and LOM at the same time - my rec would be live with your LOM a bit and then learn digi - unless you have a lot of time and patience on your hands right now :-)
[ nonnysbooks ] I had a rolodex sitting unused in the office supply closet, and I've dusted it off to put LO ideas on, and have plenty of extra cards for that big rolodex, so quotes or random quick ideas can be slipped in there quickly. Also started a journal where I'm writing down random memories as they come to me, with a title index in the back of the journal
[ sleepyhead ] jessy - there is a voice memos app - but I only have an ipod touch so I can't use it (no mike in mine)
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] I have many email folders. Work, jokes, gardening, quilting, scrapbooking, blog feeds, bills, school, people, paypal receipts. Very useful.
[ Leora ] I agree with sleepyhead. Learn LOM traditional and then incorporate digi. I did it that way and it is working out well.
[ LyciaK ] @andypandyw - we live out in the sticks and have satellite internet with bandwidth limits. If we didn't have the limits, I could see a lot more use for the iPad - watching movies, TV shows, etc. And I'll bet that it would make a great e-reader.

[ sleepyhead ] jessy - amySJ seems like the iphone app queen - you should post to her
[ lisataz ] Thanks for your time, all! Signing off now...
[ sleepyhead ] bye lisataz!
[ nonnysbooks ] that's what I'm doing sleepyhead, peeking at the digi from time to time, but mostly focusing on physical...work has slammed me this past month as we prepare to launch a new database system...so by the time I get home from work my brain is numb from database management
[ LyciaK ] 'night Lisa!
[ midwestgirl ] What I learned from all the LOM digi stuff this time around is that what I already have set up is working for me.
[ sleepyhead ] nonnysbooks - I think you'd get more value from truly learning and embracing LOM - digi will come bit by bit as you play with it - but think of that more as a tool then a system - good luck!
[ Canay ] dinner's ready. see you all later.
[ Leora ] I'm off the check on dd who is reading in bed. In case I don't make it back in tome, just wanted to say nighty night and Happy Easter to all!
[ andypandyw ] Amy SJ - do you know of an app that can do index cards - so something like story cards can be input and tracked?
[ sleepyhead ] Happy Easter to you too Leora!, nighty night!
[ bcre8uv ] Andy- You're on a mac, right?
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] Are you referring to digital scrapbooking when you say digi. Or like organizing digital pictures type of digi?
[ andypandyw ] Yes - Mac and iphone
[ sleepyhead ] for me it's digital scrapbooking - so everything I do is on my computer and I only print the final completed page
[ midwestgirl ] Jessy, if you mean me, I am referring to organizing digital pictures in iPhoto.
[ bcre8uv ] Check out Scrivener. It's a program for mac only. There's a free trial so you can see if you like it. It's designed for writers (I use it for my class content). There is an index card feature.
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] OH, I can't do digital scrapbooking yet.
[ andypandyw ] Thanks - I'll check it out
[ andypandyw ] Thanks - I'll check it out
[ nonnysbooks ] I only started scrapping about a year ago, and to date its all been paper and adhesive, my digi is just photos from the cameras...but the digi scrapbooking intrigues me, it just isn't the right time for me to tackle that monster
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] Digital organizing of pics, that I am wanting to desperately try. I only have about 6000 images though. No pre-digital pics have been scanned.
[ midwestgirl ] I just finished May Flaum's hybrid class, which was very helpful. And Jessy, 6000 images is plenty of pictures!!
[ bcre8uv ] Jessy, I haven't scanned any of my pre-digi pics, and don't really plan to. There are just too many. I'll scrap some and that will be good enough.
[ txpns54 ] Drat! I've missed another chat.
[ nonnysbooks ] don't feel bad....Stacy missed it too
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] Oh, OK. Sometimes I hear of people with over 10 thousand and I'm like, am I taking enough pics?
[ sleepyhead ] 100% digi is a beautiful thing - but learning how to capture your most precious memories is priceless - digi will still be there when you're ready and probably with better tutorials and templates ( I started when I had to create my own digi paper - eeek!)
[ Meggie ] I'd better go.My son and I are headed to a moveie.Happy Easter everyone!!!
[ Leora ] I am scanning predigital pics here ad there, but not in any organized fashion.
[ bcre8uv ] Trust me - you are taking enough pics, Jessy! :)
[ cropnmom ] I've got to sneak off to the car to get the rest of the basket goodies in a few minutes...good night and Happy Easter if I don't make it back.
[ txpns54 ] Well, I just have to read the transcripts. They're usually easy to read.
[ sleepyhead ] night cropnmom
[ AprilFL ] Happy Easter Meggie! Enjoy the movie!
[ midwestgirl ] Scanning pictures is a big commitment. I let my DH handle that!
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] Oh I definately do want them scanned. I might just pay for the service. I fear that the images will one day be lost if they are not on digital media. I have no heritage photos. My fear is for my great grandchildren (and beyond) to not have these precious memories of us now.
[ sleepyhead ] midwestgirl - my DH is sooo not techie - no chance of him scanning anything!
[ bcre8uv ] I am going to go back to dyeing eggs with both hands now. ;) Thanks for giving me the heads up, April. I'm glad I could pop in for a few minutes.
[ nonnysbooks ] We have a box of negatives that will be getting sent off to scancafe...but that's on hold till DH gets back to work
[ andypandyw ] Just discovered the iPad can also act as a digital photo frame, when it is sleep mode, it runs thru the pics in your photo library.
[ sleepyhead ] thx for joining bcre8uv
[ AprilFL ] enjoy the egg-dying! We did that earlier. I've got to take care of &quot;other&quot; easter things as it's almost 11 here.
[ midwestgirl ] Thanks, everyone, for a great chat and Happy Easter!
[ AprilFL ] I'm off to pay full attention to our movie now. Good night everyone!
[ bcre8uv ] I hope you all have a wonderful Easter, if you celebrate it...and a fabulously fun Sunday if you don't. :) See ya on the message boards.
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] A digital frame huh? They didn't have my interest before but now maybe!
[ scrapbookgirl71 ] Happy Easter, Everyone!
[ sleepyhead ] good night ladies - need to go do the Easter bunny thing and then off to bed
[ nonnysbooks ] I probably wouldn't be getting them scanned, but....the entire box of negatives is from when we lived in Okinawa (82-85) and when I looked at the physical photos they are all either faded or discolored, so we are hoping getting them scanned will make them more scrappable
[ txpns54 ] I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter.
[ PeggyL ] Happy Easter everyone!
[ sleepyhead ] jessy you can get a digi frame for $100 or less - an ipad is 4 or 5 hundred = so if you are not going to use it for anything else, there are lots of scrap supplies you could buy!
[ nonnysbooks ] Happy Easter everyone, enjoy the day with your families
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] I'll be happy enough when I finally get an iphone.
[ Jessy in Front Royal VA ] "Happy Easter to all.<br />
He is Risen!"
[ LyciaK ] Goodnight, everyone.
