[ cropnmom
] I see I'm not the only impatient one, lol.
[ scrapchris ] :-) I figured I had better log on now or I'm sure
I will forget 10 minutes from now.
[ cropnmom ] I've missed the last two, so I don't dare move at this
point.
[ vanessa23 ] I'm hoping for a long nap today so I can chat.
[ scrapchris ] I made the first one, but honestly, the format of
the chat room made it nearly impossible to get anything out of it.
[ cropnmom ] how old is your little guy, Vanessa?
[ cropnmom ] I'm with your scrapchris...hoping just to keep up today.
[ vanessa23 ] He's almost 8 months old.
[ scrapchris ] vanessa - is he your first?
[ vanessa23 ] I found the first chat hectic, but the one on Saturday
wasn't bad. There were actually lulls in time to catch up on reading.
[ cropnmom ] Aww, I was just putting my 9 yo's baby pix in my binders...that
time flies, y'know
[ vanessa23 ] @scrapchris - no, Miles is my second boy. I have another
one (3 years) named Simon.
[ cropnmom ] I think I'm getting better at reading faster
[ vanessa23 ] @cropnmom - ain't that the truth. In the moment the
days feel so long but then you think, wait, what happened to my
baby.
[ Schatz ] This is the FIRST one I've actually made!! Yahoo!
[ scrapchris ] Oh, I know how fast they grow! My big one is turning
14 in a month... then I have one that is 3 and one that is 1.5
[ cropnmom ] Yeah for Schatz' first LOM chat!
[ dawn5100 ] How far has everyone got in printing their photos?
[ MelissaTX ] Hi from sunny but Cold Texas!
[ vanessa23 ] I'm still up in the air about 3 - secretly (or not
so secretly) I really want a girl but I'm not sure my sanity could
handle three boys if my plan doesn't work out.
[ cropnmom ] Just ordered my second batch (quarter) from shutterfly.
Next one is waiting. I don't like to print if I don't have enough
for the free shipping ($30)
[ MelissaTX ] I've working backwards on printing photos. I got 2009
printed a few weeks ago and in binders & just got 2008 photos
in yesterday and in my binders today.
[ cropnmom ] Melissa, how cold?
[ vanessa23 ] @dawn5100 - no where. I was debating my approach forever.
I need to get on it though. I did order my storage binders though.
I'm going to do my storage and LOM in WRMK albums.
[ scrapchris ] vanessa - there are some days that having three boys
is more than I can handle, that's for sure!
[ dawn5100 ] I know I was printing of my 365 pictures weekly and
my shipping is as much as the pictures.
[ MelissaTX ] cropnmom - 45 degrees - probably not all that cold
for some :>)
[ MomLen ] Vanessa-I have 3 boys!
[ cropnmom ] Love my 8x8 WRMK binders. I saw several were using
the two-ups like me.
[ vanessa23 ] I could go for 45 degrees here. Shorts weather around
here for spring :)
[ MelissaTX ] I didn't start digital until 2008, so now I'm actually
caught up on the digital printing until the end of March when I'll
do the the first batch for 2010.
[ dawn5100 ] I have 2 seasons of 2009 done, but I haven't pulled
any for this weeks lesson, because I don't feel like I have enough
printed.
[ cropnmom ] @ Dawn. Yikes!
[ MelissaTX ] vanessa23 - yes, I've heard about people that wear
shorts in this "warm" 45 degree weather!
[ dawn5100 ] Thats great Melissa.
[ Leora ] HI all! I'm cheating...going to try "chatting"
from work. HOpe I don't get fired. It is snowing here in NC.
[ cropnmom ] Leora, hope you have a lookout!
[ dawn5100 ] Leora - My kids got out of school early in NC because
of snow. So I am home instead of work.
[ MelissaTX ] I'm excited because today's mail just came and the
labels I ordered for my storage binders are in!! They are the kind
that clip over the top of the binder, so I can get the sticky notes
off the binders now.
[ Leora ] Congrats Melissa!
[ vanessa23 ] @MelissaTX - everything is so much better when it's
prettied up.
[ cropnmom ] We did the snow thing last week here in NJ. Fun Friday.Very
long day.
[ Leora ] Dawn, I was hoping for that, but alas...
[ just jeani ] hello all from rainy CA
[ stacy julian ] I'm here!
[ vanessa23 ] Anyone else using 12x12 WRMK for storage. How many
do you have? I'm going to start with 2 because I think it's going
to take me a bit of time to get through my printing.
[ MomLen ] yay!
[ KathiL ] Hello everyone for a balmy Utah
[ cropnmom ] Hello Stacy!
[ Schatz ] Hi Stacy all the way from Alberta Canada
[ MelissaTX ] Hi Stacy!
[ vanessa23 ] Stacy - I want to ask, why drawers? I keep going over
and over this in my head. I get the concept of connections but what
would you think of having a category binder?
[ stacy julian ] Sorry for being a little late, chats right in the
middle of my work day are a bit crazy -- but it's great to be here.
How goes the photo pulling?
[ MelissaTX ] Hi April - I loved your blog post from yesterday!
[ just jeani ] Stacy thanks so much for directing me to the forum
that dealt with US vs People vis a vis grandparents/grandkids. It
was perfect and I now have a plan!
[ stacy julian ] "Vanessa,<br />
A category binder won't work. I'm going to play the "trust
me" card on this one."
[ AprilFL ] Hi everyone! Thanks Melissa. I hope it encourages those
that need it.
[ cropnmom ] I think I still have too much in my drawers, though
I have pulled more from this week's s-fly batch.
[ just jeani ] I'm loving the drawers. Of course it feeds my compulsion
to organize. All those tabs and sub tabs. It's heaven.
[ JeriP ] I'm pulling and thinking of lots of great pages. Hope
I'm still excited when I start to scrapbook.
[ ckytang ] Pulling - I find that I'm pulling my worst photos rather
than my best photos, since they're leftovers.
[ MelissaTX ] I haven't actually starting pulling photos yet. My
twin 5-year-old nieces are here visiting this week (watching a movie
now which they think is a real treat since we never watch TV here!).
They loved looking at photos while I put 2008 in my storage binders
yesterday.
[ Leora ] I have wooden drawers. Do I need to worry about archival
issues?
[ vanessa23 ] Okay - I'll just have to wait and see then. I have
to wait to order them anyway since shipping is crazy otherwise.
[ stacy julian ] "One of the reasons catgory binders won't
work is you need to be able to pull a stack of photos from behind
a tab and perhaps another stack of photos from behind another tab
and look at them ALL together. <br />
<br />
I know it seems so counter intuitive at this point in the game,
because you are loving the change to view your pictures, but hang
in there with me!"
[ KathiL ] So I want to make sure I have the purpose of storage
binders correct. This is a place to put the pictures you would like
to scrap. They are filled chronologically. They are slowly emptied
out as you scrap along. Then they are maybe combined into more seasons
per book as they empty. Then when one is empty a new season is put
in. Supposedly you are to empty them as fast as you are filling
them. Is this correct? Anything to add
[ just jeani ] As I file I make notes on a page that's dangling
from a binder ring off of the drawer handle. It's a 'what's inside'
reminder of special finds worth visiting.
[ sleepyhead ] I'm trying to figure out if I should just do 5 years
or fill 15 storage binders - please help?
[ Leora ] I can vouch for the amazing perspective you gain by aging
pictures in drawers.
[ Annette33 ] Haven't started pulling yet, but the binders came
in handy at an all weekend crop
[ MelissaTX ] While I was putting photos in my binders yesterday,
several popped out as ones I might want to pull, but I wanted to
wait a day or two and pull from several binders at one time when
I have a place to put the photos! The table was covered with my
sorting and the niece's craft projects.
[ stacy julian ] "Leora,<br />
Maybe -- can you line your wooden drawers with acid free paper?
If not, perhaps a good coating of deacidifcation spray would do
the trick. There is an ongoing break down with wood and wood-based
products that releases acid over time. This may push the PH of your
pictures to the acidic side and cause some yellowing eventually
-- I really don't know how much I would worry about this though.
Can you tell if the wood has been coating or protected in some way?"
[ Leora ] I am pretty sure the wood is "naked."
I cna check on that, though...
[ cropnmom ] Annette, I love the binders for crops, b/c I can just
grab a few specific pages and go. what i don't crop goes right back
in the binder!
[ stacy julian ] "sleepyhead -- if you have time and energy
to fill 15 binders, do so!<br />
<br />
We all take different amounts of photos each year and we are all
at different stages in honing our purging skills -- so it is tricky
for me to give you recommendations like this ..."
[ Annette33 ] I got fourteen pages done, and that is a record for
me.
[ AprilFL ] Yay for productivity, Annette! :) Storage binders are
great for grabbing and heading to a crop!
[ cropnmom ] I'm going to have to stop at ten 2-up binders, but
if I get better at culling it should be sufficient for my 5 years
[ MelissaTX ] Hi Tami - was that your post in the blog today? I
loved seeing all your connection pages!
[ stacy julian ] the limitation to 15 binders is so that you will
be forced to scrapbook, so that you make room for fresher photos.
With this limit on 'storage space' it is very likely that you collect
dozens and dozens of storage binders while you get caught up in
other 'scrapbooking-related' activities. Make sense?
[ sleepyhead ] Like many of us, I have 3+ decades of photos, some
digi and some older prints. I'm not sure when to stop doing SB &
highlight folders in order to keep the sense of urgency to purge
& consolidate--any ideas?
[ Annette33 ] A lady that was sitting across from me will be adopting
this method, lol, after she saw how easy it was to locate photos
[ dawn5100 ] Stacy - Do you find that you are more selective on
how many pictures you take at an event?
[ just jeani ] yesterday's FedEx brought 100 4x6 photos, 1 8x10
and 5 5x7s. Looking forward to really seeing them and creating new
connections beyond the original events represented.
[ cropnmom ] makes perfect sense, Stacy I'll stick with my 10 then
:)
[ vanessa23 ] I am so worried that I am being super critical with
my pictures and my kids will wonder why there is only "perfect"
pictures - what a change from my orange hued 80s childhood pictures
:)
[ scrapchris ] I'm one that, for now, isn't printing out my digital
photos for storage binders because I scrap totally digitally and
think it wouldn't be a good use of my money at the moment. That
said, I enjoyed putting my older prints in storage binders and pulling
from them for drawers. I haven't started "pulling"
from my digital photos yet because I am not clear on what my catagories
are going to be.
[ stacy julian ] The FIVE years of photos to move on recommendation
grew out of the reality that I lose student every year who refuse
to move past the sorting, purging and storage binder stage because
they want to keep the momentum going and organize 20 or 30 years
of photos. It is a far better use of your time to learn the entire
system -- or at least become acquainted with it with a small amount
of your photos, then to get ALL of your best pictures to the earliest
stage -- make sense?
[ Duckienz ] Vanessa, I am with you. I like to scrap the 'bad' photos
as it shows how life really is!
[ bcre8uv ] Hi Melissa - yes that was my post today. Glad you enjoyed
it! :)
[ sleepyhead ] scrapchris - start star rating your photos and your
3 stars will be 'pulled' for you , I'm a fellow digi girl as well
[ just jeani ] vanessa23 - some of my 'perfect pictures' are blurred
[rapidly moving kids] or lacking in perfect composition,[clutter
in the background] but they represent the realness of the moment.
I still use them on my pages - they are our life, just the way it
is.
[ AprilFL ] vanessa, I think they'll be very grateful for the fact
that they don't have to weed through "junk" photos
that didn't mean much to you. AND, no one said you had to keep just
perfect shots in your storage binders. Mine are filled with complete
"real life" photos - laundry piles, dirty dishes
on the counter
[ stacy julian ] dawn, I am absolutely more selective when I take
event photos now. In fact, I quite often leave my camera home all
together and just enjoy the perspective of non-photographer! Yes,
you will find as your system is fine-tuned and your library of albums
grows that you change your approach to taking pictures!
[ sleepyhead ] Thx Stacy, I'll keep moving forward don't worry :-)
[ scrapchris ] sleepyhead - I am starring my photos. Maybe I am
being too stingy with my 3*s. I am mostly rating things at 1 and
2.
[ sleepyhead ] just jeani - I have quite a few of those too!
[ vanessa23 ] @dawn5100 - I'm obviously not Stacy but I have found
that I am getting better at taking and quickly purging. This weekend
I went to a birthday party. Took about 100 photos and deleted about
75 of them. I sent cute ones of the other kids off to their pa
[ artiste ] One thing that bothers me about pulling photos out is
that I don't like the gaps, or empty spaces, in the storage binders.
Any input, Stacy?
[ Annette33 ] since I had my photos in the binders, I was able to
see various sleeping photos, and made a page. Also various dd and
daddy, and made a daddy and daughter page
[ Lis H ] Just a quick hi from Australia â€
itâ€s 6am here and I have to start baking very
soon †fresh home made cakes for our church
playgroup (but Iâ€m a granny there!).
[ sleepyhead ] scrapchris - check out Kayla's tuts, she clarifies
how to make digi category drawers work - it's awesome
[ cropnmom ] I'm finding as I go thru the same pix I had set aside
to crop that many were just there to "tell the story"
not because I actually liked the pic. those are now gone, and some
of the "cream" are going to my drawers. finally
getting this!
[ stacy julian ] "vanessa,<br />
when I say 'best and most scrappable' photos I'm not just referring
to those that are best from a purely photographic perspective. I'm
referring to those that tug at your heartstrings --- these for me
are often the very everday shots that have a messy house in the
background or are somewhat blurry or ill-composed because I'm not
a stellar photographer. I hope I have not misled you in this!"
[ MelissaTX ] I agree on the "real life" photos.
I had one photo printed that just shows my 2-year-old great nephew's
diaper! He jumped up so fast, that was all the camera got! I want
to scrap a page about his always moving while they were here visiting.
[ twinsmk5 ] me too scrapnchris but i am also still learning my
photo elements i have had sick kids for this whole class so far
so a bit behind over hear
[ stacy julian ] Gaps and spaces in your storage binders means you
are making progress! Let go of that perfection thing and embrace
those holes! You will soon be able to begin condensing photos in
your storage binders and removing pages -- so if the holes really
bug, condense more often!
[ sleepyhead ] My kids and I have started calling them the "awww"
photos... the ones that make you stop and say Awwww, :-)
[ Annette33 ] I had pics sitting around that my penpal sent me,
she always has. I did a two page layout of the ones I liked, and
threw the rest away. I was so refreshing to not feel guilty about
all her photos
[ stacy julian ] Lis H -- it's thrilling that we can chat from across
the globe. Thanks for dropping in!
[ twinsmk5 ] i like that sleepyhead
[ KathiL ] Stacy - Would you start pulling from your oldest photos
or start from the newest?
[ just jeani ] another gem from this process. I am not in any of
our photos - [always behind the camera]. Note to self - hand the
camera over from time to time.
[ MomLen ] me too just jeani!
[ vanessa23 ] Nope - I have a lot of the back of my toddlers head
still but I have deleted all the blurry because I usually have multiples
and have a better option. It's just different. My childhood consists
of very few photos that I doubt I would be able to purge any let
alone the thousands I have deleted from the last few years.
[ sleepyhead ] hiiiii twnsmk5!
[ Duckienz ] There are so many alumni who got an overview last year
and then are fine-tuning the process this year and we have access
to the class all year so there is no real 'behind' as such.
[ stacy julian ] "Annette33 -- you go girl. <br />
You will find that once you begin honor some of your photos, you
can more easily let go of others -- i LOVE that!"
[ cropnmom ] Jeani, I have actually captioned with< "and
Jerri took the pictures" for that reason.
[ artiste ] Sorry, but what do you mean by 'condense'? How do I
do that?
[ JeriP ] I am very grateful to learn what to do with many years
of printed photos. I was afraid to get them all out and make a mess
and be overwhelmed. Now I have a plan that is working. And I will
have a workflow for the digital ones also. Yea!
[ twinsmk5 ] hi sleepyhead sorry i missed your call thx for the
reminder
[ KathiL ] I hand the camera to my 13 yr old daughter sometimes
and I get the funniest pictures. Kids can be useful.
[ stacy julian ] just jeani -- I stil forget to hand the camera
over, but I'm getting better. Absolutely do this!!
[ Leora ] Just jeani--I have definitely gotten better about getting
in the picture...
[ sleepyhead ] me too - I've given up on waiting until I'm having
a 'good hair day' or a 'skinny jeans' day - LOL!
[ MomLen ] stacy had asked us to tag our pages-I noticed the ones
I least scrapped were the ones about me!
[ Annette33 ] I am going to have to do a page about my various hair
styles, looking at these photos makes me wonder how I even wore
certain hair styles
[ Duckienz ] Ha ha ALL my LOs are about me. That said I don't have
children yet :P
[ just jeani ] my dad was our family photographer and there are
precious few photos of him before I took over that role. Don't want
my kids to bemoan the lack of my presence in our family history.
So I hand it over, messy hair, no lipstick and knowing the other
photographer may not get it 'right'.
[ stacy julian ] "artiste,<br />
so condensing storage binders, means once you have removed say most
of the photos from sleeves on one side of a page, you could pull
the remaining photos and add them to sleeves on the adjacent page
-- you might have to stack photos together in one sleeve on the
new page, but you can free up a whole page in your binder. You can
pop open the rings and remove the page. I keep a big stack of empty
storage binder pages so I can add a few to the end of a binder,
or if I find or print additional photos I can add a few pages to
the middle of a binder ..."
[ twinsmk5 ] me too what skinny jean day whats that LOl
[ bcre8uv ] That would be a fun page, Annette!
[ cropnmom ] Not sure how I'm going to scrap them, but I found an
old pic of my father doing a puzzle age 4 (the first of hundreds)
and then one of my now 9 yo at age 2. First thought was I have GOT
to scrap that!
[ Leora ] sleey head--I am with you. Too funny~!
[ KathiL ] Stacy- Would you start pulling from you oldest photos
or start from the newest?
[ vanessa23 ] I need to get over my need to have perfect hair -
although I did just post a pic on my blog not realizing that my
breast was totally exposed and showing off my nursing bra :)
[ bcre8uv ] cropnmom - those are EXACTLY the kinds of pics you want
to pull for category drawers. I would put those in "things".
[ sleepyhead ] vanessa - omg!
[ stacy julian ] For example I sometimes upload a highlights folder
and print the pics I want to scrapbook and then realize I'm missing
an event (like the 4th of July) I realize that I uploaded those
photos to my laptop. I purge and upload the best shots to my already
uploaded highlights folder, print them and then add them to the
storage binder -- make sense?
[ just jeani ] Vanessa, that's what we call a wardrobe malfunction
- it happens to the best of us
[ Lis H ] Sorry got to go - I'll have to read the transcript later!
[ stacy julian ] "KathiL,<br />
When we triage and work with our categories it does not matter which
photos you pull from first. You also do not need to keep track of
which binders you have already pulled from ..."
[ sleepyhead ] vanessa, maybe you could do a page with a connection
to janet jackson, LOL!
[ cropnmom ] bcre8uv (love that, btw) thanks for the sorting tip.
Things it is! Maybe I'll run across more puzzle pix, too!
[ twinsmk5 ] stacy that makes sense to me but i do digital do we
really need to print them then
[ vanessa23 ] @sleepyhead - ROFL
[ MelissaTX ] sleepyhead -so funny I had that thought too! :>)
[ marley ] Anyone out there still shoot regular 35 mm?? I am old
school , but love it, because I develop my film..
[ stacy julian ] ... for the first 100 photos, I'd like you to pull
from your current storage binders. In lesson 4, you'll have a chance
to revisit pictures not yet in storage binders, so you can triage
some of them!
[ KathiL ] Great!! Just start anywhere and pull away. If you think
you need more go back and re-look and pull some more?
[ stacy julian ] twinsmk5 -- no, digital scrapbookers do not need
to print pictures you triage!
[ twinsmk5 ] marley if i could develop my own film i love to shoot
35mm too but i do not i use an slr digi
[ Duckienz ] Marley, I wish I did. Do you know how hard it is to
find somewhere to develop film these days? Well at least in small
town New Zealand. I HAD to go digital.
[ Caroline E ] Sorry, I was just able to get on, so maybe this was
already discussed - I feel like I should leave photos I already
know I'm going to scrap in a certain way in the storage binder,
and those that are not so obvious yet I would move to the category
drawers - is that right?
[ stacy julian ] "marley,<br />
sometimes I wish I still used film. life was so much simpler back
then!"
[ Schatz ] "KathiL<br />
Yes just start whever you want and do it. The biggest thing is to
START!"
[ vanessa23 ] Stacy - I know our system will be totally different
than yours but have you provided a full list of your categories?
Excuse me if it's in the materials but I haven't gotten a chance
to read through it all.
[ twinsmk5 ] Thank you i am kind of really new to this
[ just jeani ] i just got 4 large boxes and labeled them with our
categories. I now have all my completed layouts [in their page protectors]
filed chronologically in the boxes. I'm waiting for the class to
progress before actually putting them into albums as i expect there
will be some more insight into how to break them down within the
albums.
[ sleepyhead ] i think digi has made my life much simpler than film,
but I'm a gadget girl at heart
[ sleepyhead ] just jeani - I did the same thing, just awaiting
marching orders from our illustrious leader :-)
[ bcre8uv ] marley - I don't, but my older daughter does. She is
very into the art of photography right now & develops her
own.
[ cropnmom ] Stacy, when would you revisit drawers that are already
too full? I'm afraid my new "treasures" will get
lost in all of those already (not necessarily appropriately) there.
[ Leora ] I just switched to a digital camera last year. This class
helped me over the edge. I was so afraid of a new organizational
system. So glad to have LOM to show me the way...
[ stacy julian ] "Caroline E,<br />
Yes, this is right, but you are over-thinking too. You may for example
have 15 birthday photos in your binders that you know you are going
to use or consider using on a bday page. If as you go through your
binders, you are particularly drawn to a picture of your child with
his best friend, pull it -- it's OK! If you trust your instincts
and trust the process you will realize that that particular photo
will be best used outside the context of birthday page -- yes?"
[ MelissaTX ] For me, digital really changed things as I hadn't
taken the time to print photos except for a few that I scrapped.
So, this system is great and now I'm all caught up on my digital
printing. Working on getting my digital workflow down for this first
quarter of 2010.
[ bcre8uv ] Yes, Jeani - more info coming on what to do w/ your
existing layouts.
[ marley ] "first time on this live chat board fun fun!!! yes
my husband is still sold on the old school method too.. I really
do want a digital camera, yet am afraid of the 1000's of pix I may
take in just one day... with 2 little kids....although you can delete,
delete delete, what a luxury.... oh well, some day...I also feel
like there's so much to learn about digi here at LOM this time around,
It would only be to my benefit to dive in digital-wise... <br
/>
-Alumni (Molly is my coach) :)"
[ Annette33 ] I was always worried about ever catching up, but now
it doesn't bother me, I have so much fun just fondling all the photos,
lol
[ Caroline E ] Stacy - Thanks! I think (hope) that will start to
come more naturally as I get more familiar with / trusting of the
process.
[ just jeani ] becr8tuv, that's good because i have 100s of them
- all pulled from their original homes, patienly waiting...
[ cropnmom ] Annette...fondling. Appropriate word, as I'm finding
new affection for "old" pictures! I'm using that:)
[ sleepyhead ] I've pulled about 50 photos for my 4 buckets and
I don't seem to have any connections pulling at me - is anyone else
having the same issue?
[ stacy julian ] "cropnmom,<br />
great question --- if you have strong sense that your category drawers
are too full. I would simply pull out one and thumb through them
as you watch a movie. If there are groups of photos that you triaged
together (say from a camping trip) just keep one or maybe two. If
you know you want to scrapbook the camping trip -- then slip them
back into a storage binder. <br />
<br />
It is critical that you do not get too many photos in your category
drawers -- the process is forgiving though so don't worry too much
about this. I have had to 'clean' out my categories on several different
occasions."
[ italgal ] Which coach wrote the blog today...it is wonderful?
[ bcre8uv ] "marley - digi is definitely cheaper in the long
run! My daughter has a part time job to support her film habit.
;)<br />
<br />
Are you part of Molly's group at Treasured Memories?"
[ bcre8uv ] italgal - I did the blog post today. Thank you! :)
[ stacy julian ] "sleepyhead,<br />
be patient with the connections thing. Just do the pull and then
walk away for a day. Come back and look at photos in just one pile
or bin. I bet you will see something!"
[ bcre8uv ] <---Tami, btw. In case you're confused by the
bcre8uv. :)
[ italgal ] bcre8uv - LOVED IT! (and you onscreen name, too:)
[ marley ] to Duckienz wow!! our Walgreens develops it.. yay! and
sells the 35 mm too..
[ bcre8uv ] thanks :)
[ sleepyhead ] Thanks, I've definitely been finding connections,
but of course, since that is our assignment, now I can't see them
- I'll let them percolate and come back to them
[ Duckienz ] We have another week on this lesson right?
[ cropnmom ] Thanks Stacy. I was completely carried away by the
Photo Freedom class and book, I'm afraid. In a good way, though
:)
[ stacy julian ] Hey Tami -- LOVED your blog post today!
[ Leora ] Just want to encourage folks not to be afraid to pull
oics from binders. You really can put them back, though likely you
won't want to...
[ stacy julian ] cropnmom -- don't be afraid. I won't let you fail.
[ bcre8uv ] Thank you, Stacy :)
[ Duckienz ] Marley, all our cheap places stopped. You have to go
to a specialty store. At least where I am living now (Otago, South
Island)
[ KathiL ] I'm checking out that blog post as soon as we are done
here.
[ marley ] yay Melissa in TX!! you go GIRL....
[ artiste ] what are OICS?
[ stacy julian ] yes, duckienz -- we have one more week on lesson
3 (you'll still get an email and a new welcome note) I want to give
you time to get pictures into storage binders and have plenty of
time with your library lists and this first pull!
[ just jeani ] we all have this rare opportunity to try something
that seems so scary BUT we have a safety net - that's Stacy - so
I say, take the leap, you can't fail!!!
[ sleepyhead ] i think it's a typo s/b pics
[ Leora ] OICS==pics. Sorry...bad typing.
[ stacy julian ] PLEASE do the library lists -- I can't tell you
how important this is to the step of fine tuning your own sub categories!
[ marley ] Yes!! is this Tami? :)
[ artiste ] thanks. makes sense... i'll excuse the typo. :-)
[ Duckienz ] can you clarify? - library lists?
[ scrapchris ] library lists? Was that the pages with the questions
for each category you wanted us to answer?
[ Meggie ] I am finding connections and found a lot of comical ones
of my son that I want to scrapbook. Am working on the bins and now
the lists make sense.
[ Leora ] I'm off to meet the bus. I'll check in from home and see
if you all are still around...good luck to all!
[ stacy julian ] I'm a safety net -- loving that mental image! Seriously
-- this process takes time, but it will eventually all fall into
place and make you a happier and more productive scrapbooker. Be
patient!
[ MelissaTX ] The four pages we are working on this week - are those
the library lists?
[ Annette33 ] I feel I have already gotten my money's worth!
[ sleepyhead ] I'm already happier and more productive knowing we
have YOU!
[ artiste ] Some of you are mentioning bins. Is this something I've
missed in the material or your own system?
[ stacy julian ] Library lists are posted in the classroom this
week. Fill them out and keep them clipped to your clipboard. We
will use our freshly triaged photos and our lists in lesson four
to define our sub categories. The reason for the lists is that our
photos don't necessarily reflect our lives.
[ bcre8uv ] yes marley - I'm guessing I know you? LOL
[ marley ] Tami, I am the one at CHA working the booth that came
up to you and said: " you look really familiar"..
and then wanted to shove my foot in my mouth... like a BIG DORK...
[ sleepyhead ] artiste - in the handout for this week, homework
is to triage up to 100 pics into 4 bins
[ Duckienz ] not rubbish bins though :P
[ artiste ] Oh. Bins = category drawers?
[ sleepyhead ] LOL duckie
[ MelissaTX ] I'm looking forward to doing the lists - I have them
clipped to my clipboard. I LOVE using my clipboard as this is the
first time I've altered a clipboard!
[ stacy julian ] So if you scroll down from the 'This Week' tab
-- you'll see our handout, a supply list and four additional downloads.
Read the handout for an explanation of what to do with the lists!
[ bcre8uv ] You are cracking me up, marley! You are so NOT a dork.
[ sleepyhead ] artiste - ck out page 4 of the handout so you get
it straight from Stacy - just a category sort, not the category
drawers
[ Duckienz ] I am going to print these out for my partner to fill
in as well. He is happy to pay for supplies when I do Los that mean
a lot to him. Eventually when we are married and hopefully have
kids, it will be important that he is reflectrd there too.
[ diltsy ] I bought the american crafts faux leather albums in 4
colors from the supply list. I really hope they keep these for a
long while
[ marley ] yes I am !! I was sooo embaressed.. here you a "scrap
star".. and I had the nerve.... what a hoot!
[ stacy julian ] sorry about the bin confusion -- since most of
you do not yet have drawers, you are pulling the initial 100 photos
and placing them into piles or shallow bins/containers. See the
handout!
[ bcre8uv ] great idea, Duckienz!
[ MomLen ] too funny marley!
[ vanessa23 ] the terms "scrap star" and "scrap
celebrity" crack me up.
[ artiste ] OK Stacy. Guess I missed that on the handout.
[ Duckienz ] I am also getting him to do journalling for his LOs.
His own words and his handwriting. It will be a LOT more meaningful.
[ scrapchris ] I was worried about colors not being available in
the future, so I decided I would use all black leather albums and
just tag them with pretty, brightly colored tags and make sure I
had lots of extra cardstock in my chosen colors. :-)
[ stacy julian ] Duckienz -- you should definitely "work"
that partner support in this way. And, you are right that doing
so will result in a more authentic result!!
[ marley ] I have been in cruise control , because this is my second
year.. but I need to get my rear in GEAR!
[ bcre8uv ] Re: bins - I sorted mine into tupperware containers
my first time through. And then had to go buy more at Target for
my leftovers because all my big Tupperware was full of photos.
[ diltsy ] yeah- I'm worried about that too, scrapcris. I really
hope I made the right choice
[ bcre8uv ] That totally works, scrapchris!
[ sleepyhead ] I am totally crying right now - I just found an awesome
connection!!!!! My DS is kissing my pregnant belly, and then another
one where he is kissing my then newborn DD
[ Annette33 ] I am just using the photo boxes I just emptied
[ stacy julian ] scrapchris -- I think all black with colorful labels
is splendid!
[ Duckienz ] Ha ha in NZ we don't really 'see' who the scrapping
celebrities are. I know a couple for the few mags we can get here
but that is all.
[ vanessa23 ] I am planning on using all yellow albums (WRMK - leather)
for my library. I just couldn't find 4 colours that I liked together
and I am a Virgo and mixing textures of albums is a little too risky
for me :)
[ bcre8uv ] sleepyhead - THAT is what it's all about :)
[ AprilFL ] aww, sleepyhead, that's wonderful!
[ cropnmom ] Sleepyhead, congrats on your find!
[ Annette33 ] cool sleepy--I may have the same kind of photos!
[ scrapchris ] sleepyhead - I love it!!!!
[ just jeani ] i confess i bought the drawers as soon as i signed
up for this class. i wanted to be prepared and i hate handling stuff
twice when once will suffice, so my first 100 are in their drawers.
not necessarily in their sub-cats, that will come later.
[ stacy julian ] sleepyhead -- you got it! In a few years, he'll
be kissing the bride.
[ sleepyhead ] I think I'll do a LO entitled "He just couldn't
wait.."
[ artiste ] Sleepyhead, that's beautiful.
[ stacy julian ] Oh wait -- DS is not DH -- either way, you are
on your way to a great relationship layout!
[ sleepyhead ] OMG Stacy - thank goodness he's not even into girls
yet
[ twinsmk5 ] ok god bride sleepyhead can you imagine
[ diltsy ] stacy, that's sweet. Now, that's the perfect thing to
do with the pic of my dad and me from the wedding, pair it with
one from childhood
[ stacy julian ] "vanessa,<br />
I love it -- be yourself! yellow is FAB!!"
[ marley ] yes I actually had the privledge to scrap w/ Tami at
the store I work at : TREASURED MEMORIES .. she's very cool.. don't
know how she finds the time to do all that she does....
[ bcre8uv ] Hahaha Vanessa - my daughter is a Virgo, so I totally
get that. She would probably still be trying to make a decision...
:P
[ sleepyhead ] twinsmk5 - OMG!!!
[ stacy julian ] just jeani -- perfect!
[ italgal ] Stacy, do you think any of the recommended Library Albums
are more likely to stick around, than the others??
[ vanessa23 ] @bcre8uv - I had a deadline :)
[ sleepyhead ] thx everyone
[ MomLen ] I am a virgo, and alumni and still haven't chosen albums!
[ sleepyhead ] oooh ditsy, that sounds great!
[ cropnmom ] BTW, for those traditional scrappers on the fence about
a digi frame. I happened to have one and I'm watching it play as
we chat and you would be amazed at how it gets the thought process
going!
[ bcre8uv ] marley - neither do I! If only I didn't have to sleep,
think what I could accomplish...
[ just jeani ] i hate being out of the loop. Please [and forgive
my not knowing]... Tami?
[ scrapchris ] cropnmom - I want one so badly! I spent an hour this
morning reading reviews trying to decide what I wanted. I think
I really want to get a 12" one so it is about the same
size as an 8x10 photo though and they are expensive.
[ marley ] Yeah , I make scrapbooks for other too, as my business..
so there's very little time to do my own stuff.. sigh... but there
will come a day.. and I do get a lot done on girls weekends away....
[ stacy julian ] Library albums -- that's a tough one. The fact
that they are all survived the economy thus far is a good sign.
I am in regular contact with American Crafts and We R Memory keepers
-- they have promised to do their very BEST to keep these available.
We will be the first to know if they are considering a discontinuation.
AC discontinued the Lilac color last year -- almost discontinued
the pink (I think) but I called and they changed their mind!
[ bcre8uv ] Maybe we need to add a pro/con lists to the handouts
for the Virgos. ;)
[ Duckienz ] See about laybying one. If you spead the purchase out
over three months, it may? be more affordable.
[ Annette33 ] I have a photo frame, given to me years ago. The photos
will be more organized now, instead of just slapping an unorganized
disk into it.
[ vanessa23 ] My parents and ILs both have digital frames - I can't
believe they are outdoing me with technology! I think I'm going
to get one for my desk at work when I'm back after maternity leave.
[ stacy julian ] cropnmom -- Amen to the digital frame!
[ MomLen ] funny Tami!
[ diltsy ] I really hope they (AC) keep those faux leather ones
[ stacy julian ] I have to cut out just a little early to prep for
a meeting. Any final questions for me?
[ Caroline E ] I got my husband a digital frame for Valentine's
Day - loaded it with 2008 and 2009 highlights - my son especially
is loving it!
[ Duckienz ] Ha ha I thought it was librans who couldn't make up
their minds? I know I am a classic libran
[ just jeani ] I've dropped gift hints re: a digital frame. Is St.
Patrick's day a gift giving occassion. LOL
[ cropnmom ] Funny thing about my frame was I had bought it for
a "family" gift when they were on sale (always
buy two, lol) and accidentally found it last week!
[ marley ] momLen: choose those albums!! you'll be sooo happy you
did! I am using We R Memory Keepers denim (fabric) they are WONDERFUL.....
hold up good too.....
[ Caroline E ] Thanks, Stacy!
[ Annette33 ] no questions here, I feel I am on track!
[ sleepyhead ] St Patty's, sure if you're Irish or really convincing
:-)
[ bcre8uv ] Jeani - what are you feeling out of the loop on?
[ just jeani ] My mom was born in Dublin, does that count.
[ Duckienz ] Stacy - what if we don't really 'event' scrapbook.
Should we start to seeing as the binders are already event based?
[ MomLen ] marley,all blue?
[ sleepyhead ] Thanks for the inspiration Stacy
[ stacy julian ] Thanks everyone -- I'll check in on the Ask Stacy
forum later today. If I missed your question here, please post it
there!
[ JeriP ] Thank you for your help Stacy.
[ cropnmom ] Thanks Stacy!
[ italgal ] marley, I do scrapbooks for others, too...so I completely
understand about never being able to scrap your own stuff!
[ marley ] Stacy, YOU ROCK.. thanks for changing this scrapbooking
hobby for me for the better forever!!!!... have an awesome day....
[ vanessa23 ] Thanks Stacy
[ bcre8uv ] Have a good meeting, Stacy :)
[ stacy julian ] "Duckienz,<br />
Not sure I understand your question, can you ask me again?"
[ just jeani ] Tami - everyone is referring to you as a celeb. Can
you tell me who you are? Gosh that sound so dumb. Foot in mouth
for sure
[ italgal ] I ⥠Stacy!!
[ stacy julian ] You are all so welcome -- thanks for showing up!
[ Duckienz ] will put it on Ask Stacy
[ MomLen ] Tami is the fortune cookie lady!
[ italgal ] ⥠supposed to show up as a
heart!!
[ marley ] italgal: I always think at the end of the day at nite
when the little guys are asleep I will break out my scrap stuff.
and it never happens.. such is life....
[ bcre8uv ] Hahaha Oh my gosh Jeani, I am so not a celeb. I teach
classes here at BPS & I have been to a few of the LOM support
group meetings & taught at a store here in CA.
[ cropnmom ] Tami, where in CA?
[ just jeani ] Tami - where in CA? I live in CA and am always looking
for great teachers and inspiration
[ bcre8uv ] The store is in Oak Park (near Thousand Oaks), but I
am in South OC
[ stacy julian ] "I'll introduce Tami -- she is a fantastic
instructor here at BPS and was name the Funnest Scrapbook Ever by
Simple Scrapbooks magazine in 2007 (?) She has a fantastic blog
(http://bcre8uv.typepad.com/)<br />
I HEART Tami!"
[ Duckienz ] Is CA Calafonia?
[ stacy julian ] "thanks Duckienz -- I'll look there!<br
/>
BYE girls."
[ bcre8uv ] Awww...Stacy is making me blush
[ sleepyhead ] yes duckienz
[ Duckienz ] Thanks. I feel so left out with all your American lingo
lol
[ bcre8uv ] Where are you located, Jeani?
[ just jeani ] So.......you really are a celeb. Being voted anything
by your fans and peers is awesome. Looks like a field trip to SOCal
is in my future!
[ marley ] TAMI, YOU ARE FAMOUS DON'T DENY IT.. Be proud! wear that
scrapbook crown proudly.... I wish I could have taken the fortune
cookie class.. it was sooooooo cute.....
[ cropnmom ] Tami, how long have you been in the cropping "world"?
[ bcre8uv ] I have been scrapbooking since 1998.
[ sleepyhead ] poor duckienz, just ask, we'll fill you in :-)
[ just jeani ] Tami - I'm in the SF bay area, a little island called
Alameda.
[ bcre8uv ] I think it's still here at BPS, marley
[ MomLen ] I took Tami's class and she is so talented and a total
crack up!
[ Duckienz ] Thanks. I gathered what costco and wallgreens is now
so i can semi follow along ;)
[ bcre8uv ] I taught it live at Treasured Memories, for those who
don't know.
[ bcre8uv ] Aw, thanks MomLen. Which class did you take?
[ marley ] If you think about we are all scrapbooking queens...
We are the historians....We are building our family history that
will go down in time forever.... That, my friend, is why JOURNALING
is soooooo important.. I am preaching to myself though too....
[ just jeani ] so often forget that we Yanks do have a lingo all
our own. Add to that the Scrapbook and Text abbreviations and it's
easy to get lost. Just shout out and someone is sure to answer.
[ sleepyhead ] goosebumps marley
[ MomLen ] "Fortune cookie at TM!<br />
(Laura);)"
[ bcre8uv ] Absolutely, marley!
[ twinsmk5 ] bye all need to get the kiddies
[ bcre8uv ] Oh hi Laura! I don't know all the screen names.
[ sleepyhead ] bye twins, call me :-)
[ bcre8uv ] thanks for chatting, twinsmk5!
[ twinsmk5 ] ok talk soon thanks
[ Duckienz ] I look at so many peoples LOs online and so many have
NO journalling. They are pretty sure but have no heart behind them
IMHO. I nearly always journal. Sometimes hidden but always there
[ bcre8uv ] I will be teaching a couple of classes at Treasured
Memories in May.
[ Annette33 ] just looking at my mom's pics of her last year was
hard, avoided it for eight years, now it doesn't bother me, and
I feel honored to be the one to tell my girls about their grandma
[ cropnmom ] Tami, I used to live in So Cal and had friends in OC.
I attended crops with Yuko Neal, Nancy Wagner (who turned me on
to Stacy) and I was a "runner" at CIS back in
the 90's
[ just jeani ] Marley i have a saying when i teach. "If
photographs are the heart of your scrapbooks, then journaling is
the soul" I so believe in the journaling, it fills in all
the nooks and crannies.
[ sleepyhead ] {{Annette}}
[ bcre8uv ] Cool, cropnmom! CIS = Crop in Style?
[ cropnmom ] Annette, how touching!
[ Duckienz ] JustJeani I soooo agree!!!
[ cropnmom ] Tami, yep. The three of us were all involved in their
event in OC the one year. I was a class helper.
[ bcre8uv ] cool!
[ MomLen ] tami what r u teaching?
[ sleepyhead ] bye ladies, have a scrappy day!
[ bcre8uv ] Laura - I'm not sure if Molly will let me spill the
beans yet! One class is brand new just for TM.
[ cropnmom ] Bye sleepy!
[ cropnmom ] Bye sleepy!
[ marley ] Just Jeani: that was great!!! we need that in rub-on
form for our store crop room wall!!!! do you mind???
[ bcre8uv ] bye sleepyhead - thanks for chatting! :)
[ Annette33 ] time to get back to teaching, the kids will be coming
in from cleaning the cafeteria, lol
[ MomLen ] ooh, cool! I'm in!
[ just jeani ] Marley, I'd be honored. I'd love to visit and see
my quote on the wall, esp. if it's attributed to me. LOL
[ bcre8uv ] I also have my very first workshop coming up here at
BPS - Everyday Adventures. It starts April 15.
[ marley ] I wk at TM.. I can spill whatever I want.. nah nah na
nah... just ask me!!! ( I really don't know though) just wanted
to tease....
[ cropnmom ] Jeani and Marley, you are both so right! I'm a journaling
junkie and when I view a LO, the first place I head is the journaling.
[ AprilFL ] alrighty ladies, I'm off. My kids just came in the door.
:)
[ italgal ] Great chat; thanks ladies!
[ bcre8uv ] Have a great rest of the day, April! :)
[ Duckienz ] ME TOO cropnmom
[ AprilFL ] thanks Tami, you too!
[ cropnmom ] Bye April!
[ just jeani ] I just love being in the community of women go so
get why we do this. No need to explain or justify. This is important
work that will only become more valuable with the passing of the
years.
[ marley ] bye must hop in the shower.... took a spin class at the
YMCA.. I stink..... thanks everyone this was fun.. my first online
chat!!
[ bcre8uv ] Glad it's not smell-o-vision, marley. ;)
[ Duckienz ] It is on my to do list to go through and photograph
all my LOs and put them online 'just in case' but also so that other
people can see them.
[ artiste ] bye everyone. have a great day!
[ just jeani ] bye ladies, time to sort, purge and make connections
[ bcre8uv ] so true, jeani!
[ bcre8uv ] thanks for chatting, all! I must skedaddle, too.
[ cropnmom ] bye Jeani!
[ marley ] TAMI.. i know why we get along now........you crack me
up...
[ Duckienz ] Alexandra Mathias - Did you make a decision re your
Library albums?
[ bcre8uv ] hee hee
[ marley ] last goodbye!!!!!! :0
[ bcre8uv ] Have a great rest of the day, everyone!
[ cropnmom ] Take care, all! Happy Scrapping :)
[ Duckienz ] ok bye all, have a great day and have fun!
[ MomLen ] I know what it is Tami!
[ Alexandra Mathias ] yep....I ordered 5 black leather WRMK. Those
will start of my library photo binders. and then I got 1 red leather
and 2 linen ones to see which color I like. I have to have them
shipped from the US, so I wanna make sure the color is good.
[ just jeani ] Alexandra - where are you?
[ Duckienz ] Good idea. I live in New Zealand so I have to make
sure mine are right as well. Too expensive otherwise. Where are
you based?
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I am also not going to worry about having
4 colors, for the 4 categories etc. I will put a tag on (or write
something for the tag holder on the WRMK album and that will be
enough)
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I'm in Luxembourg, Europe.
[ Duckienz ] That is the smallest country right? Not counting Vatican
City???
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Hmmmm....it sure is small. You might be right
: )
[ Duckienz ] What is your native language?
[ Alexandra Mathias ] German
[ just jeani ] Luxembourg is on my list of top 5 places I'd love
to visit. Do you have store there?
[ Duckienz ] Te he I don't know if I am but I think? I read that
somewhere.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I'm from Germany originally. Lived in the
US for 7 years and then my US hubby and 2 kids went back to Germany
and now Luxembourg
[ cropnmom ] I seem to recall that from GEO class a lifetime ago...
[ Alexandra Mathias ] No scrappin store that I know of. there are
some online stores in Gemany that will ship here too, and then there
are stores in France. Paris is only 2 hours by train.
[ Duckienz ] I have WRMK leather albums. I did go with 4 colours
(although I have to buy the fourth) as I love colour. I just hope
I still love the colours in ten years LOL
[ just jeani ] Paris is close enough. Another favorite place. Many
good memories there. I'd love to do another trip soon. Hey, I could
bring you albums. LOL
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I love colors too, but it was hard to decide
just from looking at it online. That's why I went with black and
red for now. Might get other colors later on. And then I also got
2 colors in linen to see and decide.
[ Duckienz ] I so love Europe. I went there for the first time a
couple months ago. It still blows my mind that you can get to another
country via car, train etc. In NZ we have to fly everywhere. Even
to get from the North Island to the South Island you have to get
on a ferry or fly.
[ just jeani ] I also bought four colours, but I had them before
this class. I bought to go with our home decor so I'm sure they'll
work forever as these are colours I want around me now and always.
[ just jeani ] Duckienz - It's weird isn't it to think of some countries
being so close and some are so vast. What an awesome world!
[ Duckienz ] I decided on leather so that there is less chance of
staining. I prefer the linen colours but I want to have children
one day so decided to look ahead. I researched which albums to buy
for a couple of months and then I have slowly been accumulating
them in time to do this class.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I felt a little like you when i lived in the
US....going by train/plane for hours and it's still the same language.
Growing up in Europe I never knew that not everyone could travel
for a day and reach a country with a diff. language : )
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I have 2 kids and stain-proofness was on my
radar therefore. But the linen colors looked so yummy. My daughter
liked the green leather, but I didn't like it online (maybe in real
life ???) I love the linen orange and red a lot.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] What time is it now in NZ???
[ Duckienz ] JJ - I know. I can't wait to go adventuring more. My
parents live in Australia and that is so HUGE. Nothing in the centre
due to desert though. My dad drives across it in trucks and it is
amazing. I may go to America again one day too. At the moment I
wont go there due to the retenal scanning. I don't belive in it
so I wont go.
[ just jeani ] Alexandra - true in the US everyone does speak Englsh,
but with the accents and cultural differences, there are places
where you'd swear you're in a foreign country. Where I live there
are street signs posted in both English and Chinese. Cool huh?
[ Duckienz ] 9.14am on Wednesday 3rd March. What about in L?
[ Duckienz ] AM the green is delightful! I don't really like green
but the kiwi is a real soft yummy colour!
[ Alexandra Mathias ] awesome (about the signs)....In L it's 21:14pm
Tuesday 2nd March : )
[ just jeani ] It's just after noon on Tuesday the 2nd here.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I love green too, but not pastel green...I
love vibrant bright apple green, so I hesitated buying it.
[ just jeani ] AM - I have [all linen] black, red, green and yellow
[Dijon]. Not knowing what you're seeing on your monitor I can tell
you that the colours I got were very true to what I saw online.
[ Duckienz ] ha ha I knew that. My partner works for a European
company so I am always thinking euro time. I forgot that you'd be
in the same time zone.
[ Duckienz ] No way. I HATE pastel. It is very yummy. Ummm I could
try to photograph them and upload to my gallery for you?
[ Duckienz ] JJ that sound awesome re signs. I so love different
cultures.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I ordered the orange and the red (pomegranat?)
and if I like the linen I might get the Dijon and green next (plus
additional ones in the colors I already have) then the black leather
will stay picture storage albums and the red leather will be sth.
like a xmas album or so.
[ Duckienz ] JJ where are you?
[ just jeani ] AM the linen colours are what I'd call muted. Mostly
that's due to the fact that linen absorbs light while leather reflects
it, so the intensity of colour is different. the green is like sage
with just a little more yellow. the red is just like a pomegranite.
Even the black is less deep as again, the texture makes a difference.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Duckienz: that would be super nice.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I have seen a pic of the linen online. Someone
had posted it in the gallery with their halloween/fall decoration
and it looked very nice, I thought. I would have really like a lot
of the AC colors, but I didn't want the cardboard smooshing : )
[ just jeani ] I'm in the SF bay area of California. If i go to
the beach, {3 minutes away) I can see the Bay Bridge and the SF
skyline. Do note though that my beach is not the ocean, it's the
bay. We're on an island surrounded by the bay and an estuary - 4
bridges and a tunnel to 'escape'.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] JJ: I am jealous. i went to SF once for a
long weekend and LOVED it. I lived in Seattle for a while. And Chicago,
and Virginia, and Indiana, and Buffalo, NY ...and.....we moved a
lot : )
[ Duckienz ] I so would LOVE to go there! Sounds great.
[ just jeani ] just spent the day in SF. Saw the King Tut exhibit,
then played tourist and went to Fisherman's Wharf for dinner and
Ghiraredelli Square for dessert. A beautiful day under a full moon.
I totally get how lucky we are to live here.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] sounds wonderful, JJ
[ Duckienz ] OK AM I am back from photographing. The kiwi leather
is not crisp like green apples as it has a texture to it. It is
probably closer to avocado (and NOTHING like a kiwi - the bird,
the person OR the fruit LOL)
[ just jeani ] Duckienz - sorry what is your first name, just a
little easier to type perhaps?
[ Duckienz ] Alisha :D
[ just jeani ] Duckienze - we have an air bed, an extra bathroom
and open hearts. Anytime you're thinking of making the trip....
[ Alexandra Mathias ] You rock, duckienz : ) I though that the green
looked more soft and muted like avocado....
[ Alexandra Mathias ] do all the leather WRMK have texture?????
[ Duckienz ] Bless, thank you so much! I may take you up on that.
Like I said I have to get over the fact that they scan your eyes
when you come into the US first. I have serious concerns about cancer
from it.
[ just jeani ] Kiwi would be the colour of this chat screen background
and the album is sooo not that colour. maybe they named it more
for the colour of the skin [when defuzzed]
[ Alexandra Mathias ] : )
[ Duckienz ] slight texture (like leather has) not textured if you
get what I mean?
[ just jeani ] OK ladies, I really must dash. Cheerio to one and
all still online. Make this day the best one to date!
[ Duckienz ] In NZ kiwifruit are bright almost 'christmas' green
with a real brown skin.
[ Duckienz ] ok see you JJ and AM I will put those photos on for
you now xxx
[ Alexandra Mathias ] i'll be checking in the gallery Alisha.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I will make the rest of my day the best one
yet with a really good night's sleep : )
[ Alexandra Mathias ] but then again, with DH away on business and
two kids in bed with me sleep might not be the most comfortable
:-)
[ Duckienz ] I am uploading 5 pics so it is taking a while. I will
put them in week 2 for you as that is organisation week.
[ Duckienz ] ha ha ha re kids in bed. How old are they?
[ Alexandra Mathias ] Thanks again, that was really nice of you
to get the photos there right now. My kids are 4 and almost 8. And
they LOVE to sleep in the big bed with me when DH is away.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] usually DS who's 4 takes up the most space,
then DD spreads out a bit and I am almost falling out : )
[ Duckienz ] awww so cute. That is an awesome age. Ha ha my mum
banned me from sleeping with her as a kid as I would always spread
out and take over the entire bed. Even now my partner and I have
issues over the 'space'. We have a king bed and he feels it is still
too small as I lie diagonally across the bed on many an occasion
:P
[ Alexandra Mathias ] ok...I'm signing off for tonight. Thanks again
for the nice chat and the pics. I'll see you on the boards : ) Have
a great day in NZ, Alisha.
[ Alexandra Mathias ] : )
[ Alexandra Mathias ] I also like my space, usually....but I can't
say no to my kids. My DH is asian, so having the kids in bed is
very normal there, so he never had an issue with it. Now that they
are older of course space gets tight, but they are growing up so
fast anyways...
